The Joint Forces Training Base is home to the California National Guard which includes the 40th Infantry Division, the Los Alamitos Army Airfield, and the Sunburst Youth Academy. The base is closely connected to its neighboring communities of Los Alamitos, Cypress, Seal Beach, and Garden Grove. Major events are hosted at the base each year such as the annual Race on the Base in February and the Fourth of July celebration.

NAF is a standalone entity dedicated to providing exemplary services, accommodations, and recreational outlets for all, Soldiers, Families, Civilians, and Retirees, by funds generated through NAF operations to protect and support the well-being of military and civilian personnel.

Non-Appropriated Funds (NAF)
Monies procured from sources other than congressional appropriations and commissary surcharge funds, predominately from the sale of goods and services to Department of Defense (DoD) military and civilian personnel that are used to support and deliver Morale, Welfare, and Recreation programs.
Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR)
MWR is a network of support, with a focus on quality of life improvements, and leisure services designed for use by Soldiers, Families, Civilians, and Retirees.
